The San Francisco Giants narrowly defeated the Chicago Cubs yesterday at AT&T Park with the Giants coming out on top 8 to 7. You don’t often see such high scoring games, and anyone with Giants tickets sure got their money’s worth. This high-scoring game saw the teams combine for a whopping 15 runs! Talk about excitement! Not much compares to America’s Pastime so stock up on cheap baseball tickets and see all the fun live.
Giants pitcher Brian Wilson (2.10 ERA) got the win, while Andrew Cashner (5.68 ERA) took the loss for the Cubs. Matt Cain went 6 innings for the Giants, allowed 8 hits, no home runs and 3 earned runs with one walk and 9 strikeouts. Also pitching for the Giants was Chris Ray (3.35), Javier Lopez (2.72), Guillermo Mota (3.92), and Sergio Romo (2.06). The Cubs’s starter Randy Wells went 5 innings, allowed 8 hits, 3 home runs and 6 earned runs with 3 walks and 2 strikeouts. Marcos Mateo (3.86), Casey Coleman (11.37), and Sean Marshall (2.41) also pitched for the Cubs. With the win, Wilson’s record goes to 3-1, while Cashner is at 1-5.
Pat Burrell provided much of the offense for the Giants with an incredible 5 runs batted in. In addition to the 8 runs, the Giants scored 11 hits and committed no errors. It wasn’t a huge day for anyone at the plate for the Giants, as nobody managed more than 2 hits. Starlin Castro had the most hits for the Cubs (4), followed by Koyie Hill (2), and Kosuke Fukudome (2). The Cubs scored 7 runs, 14 hits and one error.
Umpiring duties were performed by Tony Randazzo, Brian Gorman, Paul Nauert and Ted Barrett. There were 40,872 Giants ticket holders in attendance at AT&T Park.
