Wow! What a game you saw last night if you had Pittsburgh Pirates tickets, when Brad Lincoln threw a no hitter for the WIN_TEAM!! You don’t see baseball games as low-scoring as this, and when you do you better appreciate it!
Pirates pitcher Brad Lincoln (4.65 ERA) got the win, while Andrew Cashner (1.93 ERA) took the loss for the Cubs. Brad Lincoln went 7 solid innings for the Pirates, allowed 4 hits, no home runs and no earned runs with one walk and 6 strikeouts. Also pitching for the Pirates was Joel Hanrahan (4.13). The Cubs’s starter Tom Gorzelanny went 5 innings, allowed 4 hits, no home runs and no earned runs with 3 walks and 5 strikeouts. Brian Schlitter (0.00), Sean Marshall (2.13), and Bob Howry (6.15) also pitched for the Cubs. With the win, Lincoln’s record goes to 1-2, while Cashner is at 0-3. Octavio Dotel earned the save for the Pirates, bringing his saves up to 16.
In addition to the 2 runs, the Pirates scored 7 hits and committed no errors. It wasn’t a huge day for anyone at the plate for the Pirates, as nobody managed more than 2 hits. Ronny Cedeno had a tough day at the plate, leaving 5 runners on base. The Cubs didn’t have anyone with a big night with not one batter getting more than 2 hits. The Cubs scored no runs, 5 hits and one error.
