The Houston Astros faced off against the Chicago Cubs yesterday at Minute Maid Park with the Astros securing the victory 6 to 1. It was a great baseball game that fans with Astros tickets will remember for quite some time. There’s not much better than a baseball game so get your MLB tickets before its too late.
Astros pitcher Brett Myers (3.10 ERA) got the win, while Andrew Cashner (4.28 ERA) took the loss for the Cubs. Brett Myers went 9 solid innings for the Astros, allowed 4 hits, one home run and one earned run with one walk and 12 strikeouts. The Cubs’s starter Ted Lilly went 5.2 innings, allowed 5 hits, no home runs and no earned runs with 3 walks and 8 strikeouts. Bob Howry (7.08) also pitched for the Cubs. With the win, Myers’s record goes to 8-6, while Cashner drops to 1-4.
Lance Berkman provided much of the offense for the Astros with an incredible 4 runs batted in. In addition to the 6 runs, the Astros put up 8 hits and committed no errors. It wasn’t a huge day for anyone at the plate for the Astros, as nobody managed more than 2 hits. Michael Bourn had a tough day at the plate, leaving 4 runners on base. The Cubs didn’t have anyone with a big night with not one batter getting more than 2 hits. The Cubs got one run, 4 hits and no errors.
Umpiring duties were performed by Gerry Davis, Victor Carapazza, Greg Gibson and Brian Knight. There were 28,047 Astros ticket holders in attendance at Minute Maid Park.
