Pirates lose to Cubs 6-1

The Chicago Cubs faced off against the Pittsburgh Pirates yesterday at PNC Park with the Cubs securing the victory 6 to 1. It was a great baseball game that fans with Cubs game tickets will remember for quite some time.

Cubs pitcher Carlos Silva (2.93 ERA) got the win, while Dana Eveland (6.34 ERA) took the loss for the Pirates. Carlos Silva went 7 solid innings for the Cubs, allowed 4 hits, no home runs and one earned run with one walk and 5 strikeouts. Also pitching for the Cubs was Jeff Stevens (0.00). The Pirates’s starter Dana Eveland went 5 innings, allowed 6 hits, no home runs and 3 earned runs with 2 walks and no strikeouts. D.J. Carrasco (3.69), Jack Taschner (6.05), and Joel Hanrahan (5.47) also pitched for the Pirates. With the win, Silva’s record goes to 8-0, while Eveland drops to 3-5. Sean Marshall earned the save for the Cubs, bringing his saves up to 1.

In addition to the 6 runs, the Cubs put up 10 hits and committed no errors. Marlon Byrd led the Cubs in hitting with 3 hits, followed by Geovany Soto’s 2 hits, and Ryan Theriot with 2. Alfonso Soriano had a tough day at the plate, leaving 4 runners on base. The Pirates didn’t have anyone with a big night with not one batter getting more than 2 hits. The Pirates got one run, 6 hits and one error.

Umpiring duties were performed by Mike DiMuro, Tim Welke, Jim Reynolds and Bill Welke. There were 12,768 Pirates ticket holders in attendance at PNC Park.
