Cubs embarrass Brewers at Miller Park

The Chicago Cubs blew-out the Milwaukee Brewers yesterday at Miller Park with the Cubs winning 10 to 2. It was quite a game that followers with Cubs tickets will be talking about for days.

Cubs pitcher Tom Gorzelanny (5.08 ERA) got the win, while Braden Looper (5.12 ERA) took the loss for the Brewers. Tom Gorzelanny went 5 innings for the Cubs, allowed 6 hits, 2 home runs and 2 earned runs with one walk and 9 strikeouts. Also pitching for the Cubs was Aaron Heilman (4.08), and Justin Berg (0.00). The Brewers’s starter Braden Looper went 4 innings, allowed 10 hits, 2 home runs and 7 earned runs with no walks and 2 strikeouts. Mitch Stetter (3.77), Seth McClung (5.10), Josh Butler (9.00), and John Axford (4.50) also pitched for the Brewers. With the win, Gorzelanny’s record goes to 6-2, while Looper falls to 13-7.

Derrek Lee provided much of the offense for the Cubs with an incredible 4 runs batted in. In addition to the 10 runs, the Cubs managed 14 hits and committed no errors. Aramis Ramirez and Derrek Lee tied for most hits for the Cubs with 3 hits, followed by Jeff Baker with 2 hits. Koyie Hill had a tough day at the plate, leaving 4 runners on base. The Brewers didn’t have anyone with a big night with not one batter getting more than 2 hits. Prince Fielder could not get much going at the plate as he left 4 runners on base. The Brewers managed 2 runs, 12 hits and no errors.

Umpiring duties were performed by Brian Runge, Jerry Layne, Tony Randazzo and Chris Guccione. There were 34,192 Brewers ticket holders in attendance at Miller Park.

The win puts the Cubs at a record of 77-72, (10 games behind first place in the division), while the loss brings the Brewers to 74-76, (13.5 games behind the division leader). The Brewers again take on the Cubs tomorrow. There are still plenty of tickets available so take a look.
