The Chicago Cubs barely got a “W” over the Milwaukee Brewers yesterday at Wrigley Field with the Cubs winning 2 to 0. Wow! What a nail biter! This was a pitchers duel that Ryan Dempster and Jeff Suppan will never forget! Fans with Cubs tickets saw two fantastic pitchers do battle. You don’t see baseball games as low-scoring as this, and when you do you better appreciate it! In fact all sports are a great time so check out what sports tickets are out there.
Cubs pitcher Ryan Dempster (3.84 ERA) got the win, while Jeff Suppan (4.87 ERA) took the loss for the Brewers. Ryan Dempster went 8 solid innings for the Cubs, allowed 4 hits, no home runs and no earned runs with one walk and 4 strikeouts. The Brewers’s starter Jeff Suppan went 7 innings, allowed 3 hits, one home run and one earned run with 4 walks and 2 strikeouts. David Weathers (3.62) also pitched for the Brewers. With the win, Dempster’s record goes to 10-8, while Suppan falls to 6-10. Carlos Marmol earned the save for the Cubs, bringing his saves up to 13.
In addition to the 2 runs, the Cubs managed 6 hits and committed one error. It wasn’t a huge day for anyone at the plate for the Cubs, as nobody managed more than 2 hits. Geovany Soto had a tough day at the plate, leaving 4 runners on base. The Brewers didn’t have anyone with a big night with not one batter getting more than 2 hits. The Brewers managed no runs, 4 hits and no errors.
Umpiring duties were performed by Hunter Wendelstedt, Dana DeMuth, Doug Eddings and Brian Knight. There were 38,725 Cubs ticket holders in attendance at Wrigley Field.
The win puts the Cubs at a record of 74-68, (9.5 games behind the division leader), while the loss brings the Brewers to 69-74, (15 games behind first place in the division). The Brewers again take on the Cubs tomorrow. There are still plenty of tickets available so take a look.
